The past couple months being a very dynamic time in my life - I found great comfort in the straight lines chosen for this piece. When next steps have often felt elusive personally, it became very clear creatively to simply paint the next line.

I chose the number of diagonal lines to correlate to the letters in “attraversiamo”, as seen in the sketch above.

You’ll notice of all the paths to walk, there is only one that crosses over.

The widest canvas to enter the studio, at 85”, I begin scaling up my sketch, marking the multiple pathways.

This textile has always felt the perfect mix of masculine and feminine energies that I try to balance in each painting.

After sawing off the edges of the upper right and bottom left - I began adding the thin lines seen in the inspiration tapestry. I thought of doing all of this with tape - for an ultra-straight appearance - but quickly became clear that painting the lines by hand was the meditation I was seeking.

Piggy-backing on lessons learned from my most recent painting, I focused on lento vs allegro. Choosing to revel in the process over perfection.

The pathways came alive after a coat of high gloss resin.

For most of my work, I start creating the piece with an initial inspiration location in mind i.e. where I want it to first hang. As a rule, I hang every painting in my own home before I send it to its final destination. This process helps me make sure each piece is true to me, and something I love to live with.
